The Witch’s Brew crew was at Megacon on Sunday, shopping and checking out cosplay =) Here are a few of our pictures. Got a cool Megacon photo gallery? Share it on the Witch’s Brew Facebook and we’ll check it out!
Hey all, we’re looking for anyone who may have witnessed some vandalism going on at the shop this month, particularly between October 28th and November 3rd. We came into the shop a couple weekends ago to find that several of our displays had been stolen/destroyed, as well as some belonging to our neighbors. Those responsible targeted displays featuring rainbows or gay pride symbols, and management at our market is apparently uninterested in taking any action about this. However, we’d love to take this to the police ourselves if we can find any witnesses.
So if you’ve seen anything suspicious around the shop (aside from the normal characters), please contact us.
The veeeery last event we went to at this year’s Dragon*Con was the “King of Lowbrow” Q&A with Coop, who is one of Ada’s favorite artists and a big inspiration. (And a super nice guy!)
He talked about his artistic inspirations, music, how he ended up doing some of his well-known works (like the very NSFW Lords of Acid album cover), how life has changed for artists with the introduction of the internet, and a lot about art in general. He also did the artwork for the D*C 2012 hotel key cards, and was kind enough to sign ours.
Not sure what this thing is, but it was scary as hell and locked up in the Hyatt. If you know what this is, let us know; we’re very curious.
After that was a quick lunch at the Peachtree Center before hitting the road. (I miss you already, Thai noodle place!) Seen here: Nene protecting one of Jynxie’s T-Rex plushies from Ada’s con crud.
The voyage home was fairly uneventful. Saw a creepy semi:
And we met a giant cow!
Thank you for another wonderful weekend, Atlanta – – we’ll see you next year!
Sunday night was the Trek Track party, with a concert by Voltaire! He was promoting his new album BiTrekual and played some songs from it – – can’t wait to hear the rest.
He showed off his new tribble…
He was kind enough to take a picture with us after the show =)
Garrett Wang (Harry Kim from Voyager) even showed up!
Had a ton of fun and stayed up way too late =) Tune in tomorrow for pics from Monday, including the last Emerald Rose concert of D*C 2012! (Check out our photo gallery for many more fantastic photos from Sunday.)
Check out these costumes we saw on the way to the Trek Track party:
Turns out that all weekend we were rooming next to more Starfleet folks! Bones and Dr. Crusher compared notes on the latest medical technology.
Ringo in his Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band uniform! (My apologies for previously identifying you as John… little too much Romulan Ale Sunday night…)
Deadmau5 group! Spockmau5, Riddlermau5, and Stormtroopermau5…
Aaaand we found a Centauri! There aren’t nearly enough B5 cosplayers out there.
Next up: photos from the Trek Track party! (Check out our photo gallery for many more fantastic photos from Sunday.)
Saturday night was a whirlwind. We hung out with some fantastic people at the Pulse bar, including some fellows who had a pretty grand hookah set up…
Ran into Qui-Gon Jinn at the DJ Nemesis rave…
Thor met a few other Thors…
We got healed by Raptor Jesus…
And we found Lumpy Space Princess!
To be continued with pictures from Sunday, including Levar Burton and the Walking Dead cast! (And check out our photo gallery for many more fantastic photos from Saturday.)
Friday night we headed over to the Apocalypto Disco, which was a great party. Whole lotta drinking, and a whole lotta dorks doing the YMCA. And, of course, amazing costumes!
Strawberry Shortcake group!
AAAAAH. SUBJECT IS WEARING TUXEDO AND THE TV IS GOING FUZZY. ATTEMPTING TO FLANK.
Party Rock was, in fact, in the house. Everybody had a good time.
After the Disco we went to the “What’s New With Troma” panel and saw some hilarious behind-the-scenes footage from their latest project. Troma people are the best. Drunk Leia met drunk Boba Fett.
SUPPORT TRULY INDEPENDENT FILM!
To be continued with pictures from Saturday! (And check out our photo gallery for many more fantastic photos from Friday.)
Okay, truthfully, after getting to bed so late our Friday didn’t start till closer to noon. We got on our Star Wars outfits and headed downstairs to greet the con. Jynxie as Princess Leia, Ada as Han Solo, and Fox as a foxy Jedi ^_^
First thing, we met R2-D2 on the elevator going downstairs!
Saw more awesome costumes on the way to the Nichelle Nichols panel, like…
Seneca! Sorry ’bout those berries, man…
Some kid in line tried to start a fight with us for wearing Star Wars costumes to a Star Trek panel, but it did no good – – we’re pretty devoted to Star Trek AND Star Wars at the Witch’s Brew, and we don’t see any reason we can’t all just coexist. Luckily the rest of the Trekkies felt the same way. (It was tempting to ask why, if that kid liked Star Trek so much more, we were way ahead of them in line, but that seemed un-called for 😉 )
To be continued! (And check out our photo gallery for many more fantastic photos from Friday.)
